開學英文怎麼說？

「開學」不要再說 start school了！因為是一個新的學期的開始，所以正確的表達是begin the semester或是start the new academic term。別小看這些小細節，用對了詞彙會讓你顯得更有學術氛圍哦!

I'm excited to begin the semester and learn new things.
我迫不及待地要開始這個學期，學習新的事物。

The new academic term is starting, and I'm ready for new challenges.
新的學期即將開始，我已經準備好迎接新的挑戰。

你的選修課要選什麼呢?

大學的課程主要分成兩種: 必修課和選修課。必修課就是那些你必須修的課程，不管你喜不喜歡，都要去上課。在英文裡，我們可以說compulsory subjects或required courses。不過，有些科目你可以自己選擇，這就是我們所說的選修課elective subjects。

I have two required courses this semester, and I'm also taking an elective in art history.
這學期我有兩門必修課，同時我也在修一門藝術史的選修課。

Choosing elective subjects allows me to explore my interests beyond the mandatory curriculum.
選修課可以讓我探索我興趣範疇以外的領域。

修課學分怎麼算？

既然提到必修跟選修課，那就不得不提到學分(credit)了，修多少學分決定了你的學業進度。比如說「我需要修滿120學分才能畢業」(I need to complete 120 credits to graduate.)。當你不確定課程有多少學分時，也可以問「這門課有多少學分?」(How many credit hours is the class?) ，這樣就能知道這門課的學分數囉!

I'm taking a class worth 3 credits this semester, and I still need 15 more to reach the graduation threshold.
這學期我修了一門3學分的課程，我還需要15學分才能達到畢業門檻。

The advanced physics course offers 4 credit hours and is known for its challenging workload.
這門高級物理課程提供4學分，因其挑戰性的課業而聞名。

你達到畢業門檻了嗎?

在選課的時候，有時候會遇到想退課的情況，在英文裡可以說 withdraw the course 或是 drop the course。如果你的學分差一點就可以畢業，就可以說 "I just need a few more credits to graduate."，這樣就表示你快要畢業了哦! 當然，要能達到畢業門檻(graduation threshold)也是至關重要的事情!

You need a TOEIC score of 700 or above to graduate.
要達到畢業門檻需要考到多益700分。

I had to withdraw from the chemistry course due to schedule conflicts.
由於時間上沒辦法配合，我必須退掉化學課。

I've completed all my required courses, and now I'm just a few credits away from graduation.
我已經完成了所有必修課程，現在離畢業只差幾個學分了。

今天老師有點名嗎？

相信大部分大學生多少都有翹課(skip classes)的經驗，或是早8的課睡過頭，第一件事一定是先向去上課的同學確認Did the professor take attendance today?(今天教授有點名嗎?)。又或是怕太晚進教室沒位子，只能坐最前排，當個認真上課的乖寶寶嗎? 這時候可以向提早到的同學說Save a seat for me!(替我先佔位子!)

真不敢相信你昨天又翹課了，老師都點名了。

旁聽課程英文怎麼說呢？

如果你想去聽一個不是自己的必修課課程，而只是為了增廣見聞，相信不少同學都會選擇去旁聽( sit in on a class或是audit a class)。要記得，旁聽是一個很好的學習方式，可以讓你了解更多不同的知識領域呢!

I'm planning to sit in on a psychology class this semester to learn more about human behavior.
我打算這學期旁聽心理學課，以便更了解人類行為。

She decided to audit the economics course to gain insights into the world of finance.
她決定旁聽經濟學課程，以獲取金融領域的見解。

要期中/期末考了，你報告做完了嗎?

除了平時的小考(quiz)之外，每到學期中或學期末，免不了要經歷期中考(midterm exam)或期末考(final exam)，雖然有些老師會用上交報告的方式進行期中/期末考，但大部分都還是以考試形式進行，所以如果想拿到好成績，也可以多練習模擬考試(mock test)，增加解題的熟練度。

The final exam is just around the corner, and I'm feeling anxious.
期末考就快到了，我感到焦慮。

The professor gave us a study guide to help us prepare for the midterm exam.
教授給了我們一份學習指南，以幫助我們準備期中考試。

畢業了，你拿到什麼文憑呢?

最後，當你成功完成所有課程並且達到了畢業門檻(graduation threshold)，你就可以獲得學位了! 一般學士學位是bachelor's degree，碩士學位是master's degree，博士學位則是 doctor's degree (PhD)。

After four years of hard work, I finally earned my bachelor's degree in computer science.
經過四年的努力，我終於獲得了計算機科學的學士學位。

She pursued further studies and obtained a master's degree in environmental studies.
她進一步深造，獲得了環境研究的碩士學位。

I am a second-year PhD student in the Department of Medicine.
我是醫學系的博士生，目前是博士二年級。

新鮮人變學長姊了!
