☛畢業典禮
除了直譯的graduation ceremony以外，commencement這個字也用來表示畢業及學位授予典禮。由於commencement有「開始」的意思，所以也代表著邁向人生下一個階段的起點。
☛畢業證書
Diploma 指的是完成一個特定課程所得到的文憑或畢業證明，前面也可以接high school等表示高中或其他學歷的文憑。但一般來說若念的是大學，拿到學位(degree)更加重要，「取得學位」可以用get / earn / receive a degree表示。
☛畢業致詞
有些學校如常春藤名校常會邀請名人或校友在畢業典禮上致詞演說，稱為commencement address (或speech)，如果是畢業生代表致詞時則稱為valedictorian speech。
☛畢業紀念冊
畢業紀念冊的英文是yearbook。在封面通常會有 class of (year) 以註明是哪一屆的畢業生(畢業於哪一年)。
☛學士服
學士服有個特別的用詞叫academic regalia，學士帽則是mortarboard，但是也可以簡單將兩者說成graduation cap and gown。慶祝畢業時，將學士帽拋向天空的動作就可以說成toss (或throw) graduation caps into the air。

照畢業照除了說take graduation pictures(或photos)以外，穿著學士服所拍的照片，尤其是大頭照也可說成graduation portrait。
