連假long weekend
因為連假都發生在週末，連假英文說法其實就是long weekend，也可以用 3-day weekend或4-day weekend等等表達是幾天的連假。
A: What are your plans for the upcoming long weekend?
B: There's this Netflix series I've been meaning to check out, so I think I'll
binge-watch it over the weekend.
A: 你這次連假要做什麼？
B: 我有一個一直想看的Netflix影集，所以我想我週末會卯起來追劇。
補班make-up workday
你是否也覺得連假固然美好，補班卻令人難以承受呢？補班的英文是make-up workday，學生族也可以用school make-up day表示補課。片語動詞make up for (sth) 原本就是彌補的意思，轉為形容詞形式make-up後可修飾workday，因此如果要表示補哪一天的班，後面也可以接for。例如：
According to the 2023 public holiday calendar released by the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration, there are going to be six make-up workdays this year.
根據人事行政處公告的行事曆，今年有六個補班日。
We have to go to work this Saturday as it's a make-up workday for the Lunar New Year holidays.
這禮拜六因為是春節的補班日必須上班。
彈性放假bridge day
彈性放假在英文中可以說成 bridge day (或bridge holiday)，因為它的功能就像橋樑一樣把假日串聯起來。但要留意商務英文中還有一個flexible time off (FTO) 的用語，指的是勞工可以自行選擇休假時間的企業休假制度，並不是政府機關為配合連續假日所給予的假期，小心不要混淆了喔。
The Peace Memorial Day falls on Tuesday this year so there will be a bridge holiday the day before, which makes it a 4-day weekend.
今年228和平紀念日是禮拜二，所以前一天會彈性放假變成四天連假。
特休annual leave
特休屬於有薪假(paid leave)的一種，英文叫做annual leave也就是年假。
My employer offers very moderate financial perks, but it's quite generous with paid leaves – all full-time employees receive 14 days of annual leave after working for 12 months.
我們公司在獎金方面的福利普普，但是假給得很大方。所有全職員工工作滿一年都有14天特休。
休假與請假的英文怎麼說
休假的英文是(take) time off，具體表示休幾天則用take ~ day(s) off。如果要表示某一天休假或輪休可以說成have the day off。例如：I have the day off tomorrow (或Tomorrow is my day off)。順帶一提，從事輪班工作會用work (rotating) shifts表示。輪早晚班則用work morning / day / night / graveyard shift表達。
A: What time did you get off work yesterday?
B: Actually, I worked graveyard shift last night, so I just punched out 10 minutes ago.
A: 你昨天幾點下班？
B: 其實昨天我上大夜所以10分鐘前才剛打卡下班。
至於請假，可以說成ask for time off。假單則是leave request (或time-off request)。
A: I'd like to ask for a day off next Wednesday. Is there a specific form I should be filling out?
B: We have an employee leave management system. Just submit your
application online and your leave request will be processed within the day.
A: 我想下禮拜三請一天假。請問需要填什麼單子嗎？
B: 公司有員工請假管理系統，只要線上提交申請就可以了。你的假單我們當天就會處理。
