在美國文化裡，正面的鼓勵力量是很不可或缺的一部分，因為他們相信「American Dreams」---任何人不會因階級、種族或需依賴他人而有所阻礙，只要透過奮鬥和努力不懈，都可以獲得成功。因此英文裡有各式各樣鼓勵他人的說法，我們就依據使用的時機，來一一做些介紹吧！
鼓勵他人將想法付諸行動，踏出第一步：
1. Go for it!
放手去做吧！
2. Give it a try!
試一試呀！
3. Just do it!
做就對了！
4. It's worth a shot!
這很值得一試！
5. What are you waiting for?
你還在等什麼呢？
6. What do you have to lose?
你沒甚麼好失去的，豁出去放手一搏吧！
7. This is your moment!
屬於你的時刻到了！
Example:
A: Look! The school team is recruiting new baseball players. But I'm not sure whether I should apply for it…I might not even get selected.
A：看！校隊在招募新的棒球選手，但我不確定是否該申請…我可能根本不會被選上的。
B: Why not? Just give it a try! You've been practicing for months. What are you waiting for? This is your moment!
B：為什麼不呢？就試一試呀！你已經練習了好幾個月了，你還在等什麼呢？屬你的時刻到了！
鼓勵他人在獲得初步成功時，再接再厲，再創高峰：
1. There you go!
看吧！你可以的！
2. Keep it up!
再接再厲！
3. Keep up the good work!
再接再厲！保持下去！
4. Nice job! I'm impressed!
非常好！你讓我刮目相看！
5. I'm so proud of you!
我以你為榮！
6. You're on the right track.
你的方向對了！繼續保持！
7. That's a real improvement!
這是個很大的進步！加油！
Example:
A: OMG! I can't believe I've passed the preliminary! I'm going to New York!
A：天哪！不敢相信我竟然通過初賽了！我要去紐約了！
B: There you go! I have no doubt that you will succeed! All those training and constant practice …It's a long way but definitely worth the effort! I'm so proud of you! Keep up the good work and you will win the final prize.
B：看吧！我從來沒有懷疑過，你一定會成功的！那些訓練和持續不斷的練習…雖然是一段很長的路，但絕對值得。我以你為傲！繼續保持下去，你一定會贏得最後的勝利的。
鼓勵他人遇到困難不要輕言放棄，堅持下去：
1. Don't give up!
別輕言放棄！
2. You can do it!
你可以的！
3. Hang in there!
再撐一下！別放棄！
4. Stay strong!
堅強一點！別放棄！
5. Keep pushing! Keep fighting!
再接再厲！
6. You've made it this far.
你已經走了這麼遠，別放棄！
7. You're almost there!
你已經快成功了！加油！
Example:
A: Too bad I didn't get the opportunity to play in the final. I just learned that Rick is going to take my place. I'm so disappointed!
A：我沒能得到出席決賽的機會。我剛剛得知Rick將會取代我的位置，我好失望呀！
B: Stay strong! This is not like the only and the last game you have. You've made it this far, don't give up just because of a minor frustration. I'm convinced you'll get another shot very soon! Keep fighting!
B：堅強一點！這可不是你唯一或是最後一場比賽，你已經走了這麼遠，不要因為一點小小的挫折就放棄。我相信你很快就會有其他的機會的！繼續加油～
