TOEIC多益第三部分「簡短對話」必備句型：「允許」與「請求」
TOEIC多益第三部分「簡短對話」(Short Conversations)在100題的聽力測驗中占了13個題組共39題，配分比重高達百分之四十。多益對話的設計，以職場的需要為主。對話主題多元化，例如談判、工廠管理、人事雇用、送貨等等。面對多元化的主題與相關的字彙，考生除了勤練聽力、累積字彙外，還可以如何準備「簡短對話」呢？
語言功能：「允許」與「請求」
在生活或職場中，我們使用語言做許多事，例如：請求他人讓我們做某事、請求他人做某事。這些「語言功能」經常出現在各種多益情境中。如果考生熟悉表達這些語言功能的句型，他們會更容易聽懂多益的簡短對話，也更容易回答聽力理解題。我們首先看以下「允許」與「請求」的句型：

簡短對話範例題組
讓我們用以下的題組，說明以上的句型如何幫助考生聽懂簡短對話與回答聽力問題：

解題步驟：
Step 1: 閱讀題目，判斷題型
第一題是「男子請求做甚麼？」，所以考生可以預測男子在對話中會請求允許做某事。第二題是「女子推薦甚麼？」，所以考生必須專心聽女子推薦的東西。第三題是「女子請求男子做甚麼？」，所以我們可以預測女子會請男子做某件事。
Step 2: 專心聽對話，利用句型聽出答案
對話開始撥放後，考生便可以利用上述的「允許」與「請求」句型聽出題目的答案。讓我們看對話的文字稿，句型部分用底線標示：
M: Mrs. Brown, my parents are visiting from out of town today. Do you think I could take this afternoon off so I can pick them up at the airport and show them around town?

第一題的話，男子在對話的一開始提到「你覺得我可以今天下午請假去機場接他們，然後帶他們在鎮上逛逛嗎？」(Do you think I could take this afternoon off so I can pick them up at the airport and show them around town?)，所以答案為(B) Leave work early。至於第二題，女子提到「如果你要帶他們吃頓好吃的晚餐，我推薦Meriden街上的Giovanni's Eatery。他們的義大利菜很好吃。」(If you're going to treat them to a nice dinner, I recommend Giovanni's Eatery on Meriden Street.
