打造自己專屬的雅思口說模板!4個練習方法不進步都難

在IELTS雅思考試的四個測驗項目中,口說測驗的時間最短(約11-14分鐘),題數最少,考古題看起來也不難,可是學員該如何回答,才能獲得心中理想的成績呢?我們在這篇文章裡,將分析雅思口說題目的重點與口說模板,然後我們將分享四個練習雅思口說方法,希望可以幫助學員進一步提升口說能力。

第一部份:簡介以及問答(Introduction and Interview)

考官會問考生一些生活常見的主題,例如家人、興趣、習慣或者食物。第一部份的重點在於「考生本身」,所以考生回答題目時,需要利用自己的資訊與經驗,而不做過多的延伸。讓我們用以下的例題來說明:

Do you like vegetables?

範例答案一:

"Yes, I do. I think vegetables are an important part of any healthy diet because the can supply fiber and a variety of vitamins and minerals. Without sufficient vegetables in their diets, people may encounter health problems later in their lives."

範例一的文字,雖然使用了許多進階字彙與句型,可是這些文字並未提供考生本身的資訊,所以答案並不切題,無法為考生加分。

範例答案二:

"Yes, I do. I especially like leafy greens, such as lettuce and spinach, although I do eat pretty much any kind of vegetables. In fact, on the whole, I eat at least three or four types of vegetables in every meal."

我們可以看到,範例二的文字,不僅自然流暢,而且與說話者的個人生活有關,是一個適當的答覆。

練習方法:

當學員練習第一部份時,想像自己在跟朋友聊天,心情盡量放輕鬆,這樣比較容易說出清楚與流暢的答案。如果可以跟真人練習,更能夠自然地說話,收到更好的效果。

第二部份:個人陳述(Individual long term)

考官會給考生一張題目卡。考生有1分鐘時間準備,然後針對題目卡的題目,進行最多2分鐘的演說。第二部分的題目,也跟「考生本身」的生活經歷有關,不過需要考生進行長達2分鐘的陳述。許多考生因為不曾連續講過2分鐘的英文,心情很緊張不知道要說什麼,慌亂之下講出來的話就很語無倫次,讓人無法理解。讓我們利用以下的例題,說明回答個人陳述題的基本模板:

Describe a time when you started using a new technological device (e.g. a new computer or phone)
You should say:
•what device you started using
•why you started using this device
•how easy or difficult it was to use
and explain how helpful this device was to you.

 

題目卡上面有幾個Wh-疑問詞(底線的字)為首的提示項目,幫助考生發想答案的內容。然而,考生也可以利用其它的Wh-疑問詞,提供答案的其它內容。以下是所有的Wh-疑問詞,以及可能的內容:

•what: smartphone / surf the net, email …
•who: mom gave it to me
•where: take it everywhere
•when: have it all the time
•why: birthday gift
•how easy / difficult: easy to use
•how helpful: very useful, lightweight

考生只有一分鐘的時間可以準備,所以只需要在草稿紙上寫下幾個關鍵字。考生也可以在Wh-疑問詞旁編號,提醒自己做答的順序。當然,考生開始說話後,有可能會遺漏草稿上的一兩個項目,不過草稿只是考生作答的指引,草稿上的內容不會被評分。只要考生說出清楚連貫的答案,就可以獲得理想的分數。

範例答案(括弧裡是草稿上的項目):

OK, I would like to talk about my first time using a smartphone (what device) which was about 10 years ago.

Well, I guess I am not really a techie or any type of technology fan. That is why having the first smartphone was really an eye-opening experience for me. I got it from my mother (who) as a birthday gift (why) for my 18th birthday, and I absolutely loved it.
At that time, I had just been accepted to college, and I needed an electronic gadget that is as convenient as a computer and as portable as an iPod. An iPhone was a good start. You know… it was like having a whole world in my pocket. I could surf the Internet (what), send an email, make free international calls, and even read e-books.

The smartphone was so user-friendly (how) that it took me only an hour to figure out all the functions and made the most out of it.

The smartphone was useful (how) because I didn't have to carry my heavy laptop around to access emails and messages. The smartphone was especially handy when I was on a trip. Also, as the smartphone took good pictures, it made my camera redundant. I used the smartphone for three years before its battery died. It was an important part of my life.

練習方法:

當學員平時練習第二部份時,可以給自己寬裕的時間(例如三分鐘),利用上面的Wh-疑問詞方式,發想所有的相關資訊,這樣有助於真正上考場時,在短時間內想出好點子。

第三部份:雙向討論(Two-way discussion)

考官和考生將針對第二部分的話題進行討論。考官的問題會更廣泛和抽象。第三部分的重點,不是評估考生能否敘述自己的生活經驗,而是要評估考生能否論述自己想法,並且展現分析與深入思考問題的能力。

典型的第三部分題目:

•How has the Internet changed the way people work?
•Do you think governments around the world are doing enough to tackle environmental problems?
•What changes would you like to see in the transport system in your country?

許多考生覺得這些抽象的問題很難回答,我們建議學員的答案包含以下的內容:

內容架構

•直接回答問題(direct answer)
•解釋原因(reason)
•提供(個人)範例(example)

例題:
Do you think that schools should use more technology to help children learn?

答案架構(口說模板):

•直接回答問題(direct answer): yes
•原因(reason)與範例(example):
 1. interesting: virtual field trips, online learning resources
 2. active participation: online games to practice math

範例答案(括弧裡是口說模板裡的項目):

Yes, of course (direct answer). There are many benefits of using technology in the classroom. When technology is integrated into lessons, students are generally more interested in the subjects they are studying (reason). Technology provides different opportunities to make learning more enjoyable in terms of teaching the same things in new ways, such as taking students on virtual field trips and using online learning resources (examples). What is more, technology can encourage more active participation in the learning process, which can be hard to achieve through a traditional lecture environment. For example, my cousin's class used online games to get students to solve math problems and develop their analytical skills (example). My cousin said the games were fun and everyone was actively engaged.

練習方法:

當學員平時練習第三部份時,可以提醒自己使用這個answer-reason-example的模板,這樣說出來的話就會比較有條理。不過我們必須強調,學員平時就要增進自己的素養,充實各領域的相關字彙,這樣說出來的話才會有內容。當然在練習雅思口說的任何部分時,學員也可以把自己的答案用手機錄下來,然後分析自己的發音與答案內容。雖然多數學員一開始聽到自己的答案時都會很害羞,不過這是發現自己問題的最好方式。只要學員正視自己的問題並改進,雅思口說的成績一定會進步。

結論
