According to the report from the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), Taiwan generated about 8.9 million tons of garbage in 1997, an average of 24,000 tons a day. In fact, the amount of waste disposal in Taiwan has grown 6 percent per year over the last ten years. Taiwan is facing a garbage problem that is becoming more and more serious.

準備方法:(1) 先回答題目中的Wh-問句,如果還有時間,再補充說明圖片中的其它細節。(2) 生活中多練習。圖書插圖、雜誌照片、新聞畫面等都可以當作素材。

Part 1: 中譯英
將一段中文翻譯成通順、達意且前後連貫的英文。例題:
小時候,我和鄰居John同校。那時我們常一起打籃球,度過許多快樂時光。畢業以後,他和家人移居到國外。從此我們就失去連絡了。
準備方法:(1) 平日讀到好文章,可記下當中佳句,以作為翻譯的參考。(2) 熟悉連接詞的使用方式,以使譯文更通順。
Part 2: 英文作文
依據題目的圖片及文字提示寫一篇英文作文,長度約一百二十字(8至12個句子)。例題:
臺灣的機車數量很多。許多家庭擁有一部以上的機車,每天上班、上學都用機車代步。你認為在臺灣機車這麼普遍的原因何在?請說明你的看法。
準備方法:學習作文的基本架構。善用主題句、支持句與結論句,論點可更清楚呈現。
