According to the report from the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), Taiwan generated about 8.9 million tons of garbage in 1997, an average of 24,000 tons a day. In fact, the amount of waste disposal in Taiwan has grown 6 percent per year over the last ten years. Taiwan is facing a garbage problem that is becoming more and more serious.

Part 1: 中譯英
將一段中文翻譯成通順、達意且前後連貫的英文。例題：
小時候，我和鄰居John同校。那時我們常一起打籃球，度過許多快樂時光。畢業以後，他和家人移居到國外。從此我們就失去連絡了。
準備方法：(1) 平日讀到好文章，可記下當中佳句，以作為翻譯的參考。(2) 熟悉連接詞的使用方式，以使譯文更通順。
Part 2: 英文作文
依據題目的圖片及文字提示寫一篇英文作文，長度約一百二十字(8至12個句子)。例題：
臺灣的機車數量很多。許多家庭擁有一部以上的機車，每天上班、上學都用機車代步。你認為在臺灣機車這麼普遍的原因何在？請說明你的看法。
準備方法：學習作文的基本架構。善用主題句、支持句與結論句，論點可更清楚呈現。
